Buddhist Town features a range of temple styles from India, Thailand, China, Japan, Tibet, Central Asia, and more. The beautiful 3.5-acre Holy Heavenly Lake and the True Dharma Temple of WBAH on its east bank form the core of the complex. A winding river flows from the lake, linking the other centers. Small shops and cafes line the pedestrian walkways and gardens along the riverway. The True Dharma Temple, with its golden dome and a thirteen-tier golden pagoda, rises above the temple grounds. On special occasions, festivals and cultural activities will be held. It will truly become the Buddhist Vatican.
The leading force of the Buddhist Town is the World Buddhism Association Headquarters (WBAH), headquartered in Pasadena, California, with more than 30,000 members from 22 nations and all Buddhist sects. In 2014, WBAH's search team found this beautiful piece of land in Hesperia, California, and it was blessed by the Pope of Buddhism, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, who named it Holy Heavenly Lake. In 2015, the Hesperia City Council passed a resolution in support of the project. On June 24, 2018, WBAH held an initiating assembly in Hesperia and invited H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to bestow blessings and pray for world peace and prosperity. More than 2,600 people and 300 volunteers from 15 countries attended the assembly. On February 24, 2019, a City Planning Commission hearing presented the design to the public and received widespread community support.
